Do not see this movie.     Of all the unscary, generic, half brained horror movies I've seen over the years this one has to be one of the worst. I don't even think they were trying …

Hi Jonathan. I was wondering whether you might consider putting your horror movie reviews etc in the HYPE community. I handle the recommendations bulletin for the low budget & cult flix & so on for them and we're really low on good reviews since Trashie, Frank, and Chris left and their material had to go with them. Think about it, okay? Halloween is just around the corner and I was hoping to put out at least 2 more lists before then.

I see you stumbled into our little raving liberals party. Although Trashie hates being called a liberal, or anything else for that matter. =)

Actually if you took a poll most of us are. But that's best left for another day. Although I hate Clinton for that whole NAFTA thing. You'd expect that from Reagan and the Trickle Down Boys, not out of a Democrat.

Personally I despise both major political parties. I see them both as flip sides of the same big government/big welfare/big spending on big wars government as usual. I'm a Libertarian, I believe VERY strongly in SMALL government, non of these unnecessary wars, and not taking money away from one person to support another. GOP and dems both represent the same things when it comes right down to it, they just play off each other for votes.

I don't think you necessarily have to say... root for one side of the spectrum in order to be Liberal or anything like that.  Like, you might have some Liberal beliefs but I don't actually think that makes you rooting for one particular team or another.  I think it just means that your beliefs happen to coincide with one side of the spectrum but that doesn't mean you have to root for that side of the spectrum.  I don't particularly make a secret of my beliefs, though.  But I try to get people to focus less on what side of the political spectrum I fall on and more about what it is they're actually seeing.

Labels come in handy sometimes if your beliefs happen to be close to the party line though. I have changed my mind over the years on various things (such as the death penalty) but I'm still pretty much a left-winger. A socialist, eve, I don't believe capitalism is basically evil but GREED is. There's nothing wrong with making a profit, but making an obscene profit is just that, obscene.
February 26, 2010
I guess the biggest problem with that is what counts as obscene? Who's to make that call? And how would you enforce such a thing? Do you put a cap on profits? Do you take their money? I believe very strongly in capitalism, its simply the lack of government presence and interference in the free market, which appeals to me since I really do hate large governments. Greed and desire are the flip sides of the same coin, and if we think about it desire (a desire for power I believe) is necessary for our species to exist. Without it we wouldn't be able to do the amazing things we do, build the things we've built, make the art we've made. Its in our very nature, and there's no changing that.
February 26, 2010
To me "obscene" is defined by that which would destroy itself in pursuit of profit. Why would any American create a market where his product couldn't be afforded by any member of his own country? Constant growth makes no sense at all, especially in a country that has been crippled by lay offs and unemployment. That makes no sense. China which has a population of over 1 billion most of whom still live in poverty also has a population of 100 million millionaires which almost equals the entire population of the entire United States of America. When you look at it that way why would any company feel any loyalty to the U.S. when there is so much more profit to be made in China alone simply by selling to the millionaires? Greed is our downfall. Sorry if this makes no sense. I'm highly medicated at the moment,

You know it man, I'm a total BSG nerd now, and fraking proud of it. I just need to find a way to get a hold of the old series and some way to see the new Caprica show (Hulu doesn't seem to work in Korea, sad face) and I'm good. Its amazing how cheap you can get the series here, I got the whole thing DVD quality for just over fifty bucks.

Just stepped in, and already thinking about conquering?  I don't know... It looks like you've got some stiff competition ;P  j/k of course, Lunchers are a nice, respectful bunch :)  I just stopped by to welcome you to the site, and I noticed that you're moving your Amazon reviews over, so I thought I'd tell you about a nifty little tool called Lunch This.  It's great for when you want to write a review for a topic that isn't yet in Lunch's database.  Looks like you've already made quite the splash here, but feel free to let me know if you have any questions or feedback, and I look forward to reading more from you, Jonathan! :)

Thanks for the kind words Devora, lots of these guys I know are old Amazon friends, like Trashcanman, and Wrestleanimaniac, old buds from WAY back.
