Well, I wanted to write a proper review of this anime, but the fact is there isn't much to talk about here, unfortunately. In fact, it turned out that I went into this one expecting way too much. That is not to say Dance in the Vampire Bund isn't enjoyable, but it isn't something to write home about either, and is ultimately on the forgettable side.

Not only is Dance in the Vampire Bund about political posturing and manipulation, it is also a mildly bizarre, Lolita-style love story. (Mina chooses to live in the body of a child, but in fact she is centuries old with her bloodline dating back to the man himself, Vlad the Impaler.) Not only that, but it should be noted there is at least one other mini arc of sorts that is disturbing in that it focuses on an inappropriate relationship between an older, recently turned teen girl and a seemingly under age boy. Long story short, there is a lot of nudity, and quite a bit of sexual material, sometimes subtle, and other times not so. Admittedly though, the one thing that annoyed me was how much focus was put on the characters' eyes - so much so that it disrupted the flow of any given scene, even fight scenes.

I give Dance in the Vampire Bund three stars because it isn't terrible, but it isn't nearly as good as it should be. It does leave room for a second season however, so maybe this will change.

Eh, this one doesn't look all that interesting to me. I think I'll pass.

I think this anime caught the attention of a lot of people (including myself) because it doesn't take from the cliche 'war between humans and vampires' scenario. But really that's the only interesting thing about it.

Been asking Frank about this series and I am glad to see that you at least gave it a QT. I think I may give this a rent one day....

This is one of those that is -almost- really good. But it lacks a really solid, tight story, and the characters aren't even very interesting either. I actually found myself liking one of the semi-background characters a lot more than the main cast. So yeah, definitely rent this. Or I hear the manga is much better, so you could go that route instead.
