I had heard references to Peach Girl in anime circles, so when I came across the first volume of the manga at my local library, I checked it out.
Momo is the main character of Peach Girl, and she's a girl on the swim team who tans easily. Unfortunately, in the town she lives in, pale skin is in fashion. Many people at her high school think she's a beach bunny and a slut due to her tanned skin. She has low self esteem, which isn't helped by the antics of her backstabbing best friend. Momo has had a crush on a boy in her school for a while, and her best friends starts trying to make this boy hers. On top of this, a popular boy enters into the love fracas, and pursues Momo.
By the time I finished this manga, I really wasn't satisfied with the storytelling. Perhaps I simply couldn't relate to the characters and situations, or prhaps I'm just not in the target market for this manga title. At this point, I'm not really interested in pursuing this title any further.
I wrote this review after checking out a copy of this manga volume through the King County Library System.
