Cowboy Bebop: The Movie takes place between the episodes "Cowboy Funk" and "Brain Scratch." The film takes place around Halloween of 2071, and the film sees an explosion of a tanker truck that releases a deadly virus that kills hundreds of people. After a large bounty is placed on the person behind the attack, the crew of the Bebop try to capture the bounty. During their search, they meet new allies and enemies. The film feels like an extended version of a regular Cowboy Bebop episode. The film is able to delve into more character development, as well as provide the extended action sequences.

The DVD extras are definitely better than what you get on the regular episode DVDs. On this DVD, there are featurettes, storyboard comparisons, character biographies, conceptual art galleries, music videos, and trailers.

Overall, this is an enjoyable film for fans of Cowboy Bebop. However, a viewer needs to already have some familiarity with the property in order to enjoy it. I would definitely recommend this release to anyone that is a fan of Cowboy Bebop.
