Evangelion 1.01: You Are (Not) Alone - Still an amazing character study, with great action

Tokyo is under attack by powerful mecha like beings called Angels. Conventional weapons are useless against the creatures durability and advanced weaponry. Mankind's only hope lies in the organization called NERV which is under Commander Gendo Ikari. The organization deploys into battle giant mechas of their own called EVAs. A Modern Masterwork on Many Levels

Love or hate the Giant Robot genre of anime, there is no denying the resounding influence the Evangelion franchise has had on the industry since its introduction back in 1997.
