The beginning of the Neon Genesis Evangelion saga

Neon Genesis Evangelion Collection 0:1 is a single DVD that contains the first four episodes of the series. The episodes on this disc are definitely meant to establish the Neon Genesis Evangelion universe, as well as to provide character development for Shinji Ikari, the main character. Right now, the pacing of the series feels a little on the slow side, and I hope that the pacing will improve as I watch the other DVD releases for this series. My initial impression of the series so far from watching the episodes on this disc is that while Neon Genesis Evangelion isn't the best anime series I've seen, it's also not the worst series I've seen, either.

When it comes the bonus features, you can see character bios, a page that features the website for the now defunct ADV, the DVD credits, and ADV Previews. For the character bios feature, the bios feature a picture of the character and a brief write-up. The characters included in this feature are: Shinji, Misato, Aida, Eva Unit 01, Angel #3, and Angel #4.

If you're a fan of Neon Genesis Evangelion and haven't either already picked up this DVD release or one of the DVD box sets that were released for the series, this could be worth adding to your DVD library if you can find it for a reasonable price.

I wrote this review after watching a copy of this disc that I checked out through the King County Library System.
