I have always had a fondness for anime that explored the Bushido period; noteworthy hits such as the anime series "Basilisk" and the anime film "Ninja Scroll" have garnered a powerful following. Sword of the Stranger Illustration
In this Pixar age where most mainstream animations are vibrant 3D caricatures, a movie like Sword of the Stranger provides a wonderful light and shade to the world of animation. Sword of the Stranger is old school animtion, which means the artists are working mostly with handdrawn cells. I was fortunate enough to catch this one on the big screen, so the line quality of the moving characters is noticeably visible.
