When I first heard that Wong Kar-Wai was going to do a film about Bruce Lee's teacher, I immediately thought that his movie would be like "Wyatt Earp" to "Tombstone"... that his The Grandmaster would be like "Wyatt Earp" to Wilson Yip's "Ip Man".

Wong takes his film into an artsy approach that had become his signature. Having magnificent cinematography and rhythmic action sequences, "The Grandmaster" is a success for what he meant it to be. May become one of the better releases from China in 2013.

Looks interesting. I have only seen photos of Yip Man as an old man. Would be cool if they have a young Bruce Lee learning with him.

Wilson Yip's Ip Man 2 was supposed to have a young Bruce Lee under his tutelage in the second half but they could not come to an agreement with Lee's family until they were almost done with the movie (this caused Ip Man 2 to have a weak screenplay). And so, Bruce only shows up at the end, giving hope for Ip Man 3. In this movie, there is a small kid that suggests that he is Bruce Lee....
