Ok, so after my review of my first ever Fatal Fury movie, bigd99999 suggested that I see the third movie. Sure, I said, but Im going to see the second one first. (you win a cookie by the way D)
D man I lied. Haha. What I thought was The New Battle was not they lied to me!! Oh well, just as well. I got what I wanted, even if I did think it was under a different title. Do I care? No, not really. In the end its just one less review I get to enter in the Feb. 1st review contest. Oh well.
Moving along, I have now seen the third one. Was I impressed? Absolutely!! Ok, summary first just so I dont get to excited and get ahead of myself
First off, its probably a good idea to see at the very least the first Fatal Fury movie, as much as it pains me to say that (ok, Im sorry, it really didnt suck all that much). But thats only because there are characters meeting up and going, Hey, how are ya? and youll just be sitting there thinking, Er, wait who are these people again? However, if youre reading this thinking, Whatever. Forget that. Then that works too because they do a very good recap of certain elements that were in the first movie and you could more than likely follow along with very few questions and even then you could just hop-skip online and find what you wanna know.
Moving on, we start off with some strange, yet powerful characters stealing something called the Armor of Mars. Ok, sounds good. We next see Joe Higashi in a kickboxing match, and a celebratory party afterwards, in which he, Andy, Andys girlfriend Mai, and Terry all meet up once more. But things get interrupted when a girl named Sulia crashes the party and spills the beans about her brother, Laocorn. Apparently hes the one looking for the Armor of Mars, and if he gets all six pieces, two words for you; world domination. Sulia, having heard of Terrys accomplishments, asks for his help, and of course Joe, Andy, and Mai all jump onboard.
From there Sulia explains the history behind the armor (long story) and it becomes a race to find the remaining pieces. There are only three left, and its important that the good guys get to them first. If they dont, Laocorn will have the power of a god (which is never good). Who will get all the pieces first? And plan B (in case the heroes dont do it) will they be able to take down Laocorn if he becomes a god?
Well Im most certainly not going to tell you. =P
I absolutely loved this movie. Granted, its 2:30 am now, but I dont think that would have stopped me. This was so much better than the first one. I had the dub, and didnt mind it at all (though sometimes I wonder why they throw random Australian accented guys in there) so its all good there. Ive looked at the cons mentioned in the other 3 reviews for this movie and feel I can honestly say who are these people? The animation was very good, especially when compared to the first movie. It was
newer I think would be the best word. As for length, this is a good length of time for any movie, and it most certain did not rush along the way the other one did. It went at a perfect pace, allowing for a few flashbacks that were totally necessary, and a few instances that were just plain fun.
This movie actually got me to laugh out loud (Andy and Terrys other sensei, Master Jubei reminded me of Master Roshi from DBZ - a letch, and at another point in time I thought Joe was wasted), actually sit here and say Awwww! (it was a very sweet scene) and Oooh! (great scene between Mai, Andy, and Hauer) out loud (Hauer was hot by the way *lol*). I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The only thing that bugged me was that Andy was still mushy over Lily and I was sitting here saying, Dude, you only knew her for about a total of 2 hours!! Oh well, whatever.
Just so you know, there is blood in this movie and a few not-so-pretty deaths, as well as some swearing and um, yeah, nudity (which made the D man pretty happy, haha), so you might want to hold off on letting the kids see this for a while.
This movie gets five stars because there isnt any reason to give it anything less. Now I know whats going on when I watch that Fatal Fury AMV of mine
haha.
