Enter the world of D, the half-human, half-vampire (aka Dunpeal) vampire hunter. Hes been around before, rescuing damsels in distress from creepy old vampire guys. I made that sound pretty lame, but that movie wasnt anything super special.
Anyway, lets move on. As things start out, Charlotte, a beautiful young woman, is kidnapped by a rather aristocratic vampire. Not long after, D is summoned by Charlottes father in order to find and return Charlotte. However, if Charlotte has been bitten and turned into a vampire, then Ds orders are strict Charlotte wont be coming back.
But D isnt the only vampire hunter out looking for Charlotte. If you want better results, its a good idea to maximize! So the Markus Brothers have also been hired, giving D a little competition since theyre all pretty skilled in their own way of killing vampires. The search for Charlotte is now on, but things arent exactly what they seem. In fact, when it comes to the vampire who did the kidnapping, Meier Link, Charlotte doesnt seem to mind being kidnapped at all. Could they be in love with each other?
Frankly I dont blame Charlotte hehe.
But because of their love, Meier isnt going to give up Charlotte to D or the Markus Brothers easily. He even hires a small band of demon-like creatures to act as bodyguards. Why they even care about money is beyond me its not like theres anything they can do with it.
All that remains now is if D and the Markus Brothers will be able to handle these new additions to Meiers journey. But where are he and Charlotte going? What is their ultimate goal? And more importantly who will make it out of this chase alive?
Ah, another anime that is good both ways English and Japanese. Both will work just fine. As I mentioned in the pros, the animation here is really good. I think I could even say beautiful. Detailed down to the last bead in Meiers hair. There are a few things that do fall a bit short, such as how and why one of the Markus Brothers, Grove, does what he does, Leilas (another one of the Markus Brothers' group) voice in the English version wasnt quite to my taste, we dont get to see the fight between D and Mashira (an interesting version of a werewolf I think), and the story concerning Ds past and the things his father did are a little fuzzy. But those things can be overlooked, though I would like to know if Charlotte and Meier made it
Two thumbs up! Go and enjoy!

Based on a series of fantasy novels by Hideyuki Kikuchi,Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlustis a bloody anime adventure. Set in the distant future, the story focuses on D (voice by Andrew Philpot), the son of a vampire and a mortal who has dedicated his life to exterminating vampires. D is pursuing Charlotte (Wendee Lee), who has been carried off by vampire Meier Link (John Rafter Lee). The bounty-hunting Markus brothers and tough-talking Leila (Pamela Segall) are also on the trail. A long, violent chase brings them to the Castle of Carmila the Bloody Countess (Julia Fletcher), where the narrative founders in a series of confusing illusions that lead to an inconclusive ending.Bloodlustlooks better in still images that evoke Yoshitaka Amano's intricate illustrations than it does in motion. The very limited drawn animation clashes visually with the more fluid computer-generated imagery--D's cape billows dramatically, but his expression rarely changes. Fans of such violent anime features asSword for TruthandNinja Resurrectionwill enjoy the no-holds-barred action sequences, but more squeamish viewers will be put off by the beheadings, impalements, disembowelments, etc.Vampire Hunter D, an earlier, more modest feature based on the same material, is a better adaptation.--Charles SolomonCombining romance, gothic horror, science fiction, and bloody action into a dazzling anime production, VAMPIRE HUNTER D (2000) takes the vampire mythos to a new level. This movie is not a remake or a...
