READERS BE WARNED...SPOILERS AHEAD! I have to say that this is my favorite Anita Blake book in the series yet. Halloween is fast aproaching, and of course that would be Anitas busy season, so along with being totally overworked Anita is hard at work on a string of murders being committed by a group of rouge vampires. This book has alot more action than the previous two. Anita is being threatened by … more
It had been a while since I read a short historical romance, so I decided to look through the large stack of books my mother gave me. I picked one at random and was pleasantly surprised by the premise. Even if I had not read the summary on the back cover, I would have guessed parts of the book based on the Twelfth Night quotes that separated “Part I” from “Part II.” … more
the story takes a strange turn in this book....very unexpected but did not at all prevent me from finishing it in a matter of days, i can't wait to see where it goes next.

The short version of my thoughts on 'Thorn Queen' is easy: Now this is more like it! Richelle Mead's biggest strength as a writer is in creating fun, engaging characters that grow and change over time. She does it well with Rose and Lissa in the Vampire Academy series and even better with Georgina Kincaid, Seattle's most interesting succubus. These stories … more
This is book number two of the Meredith Gentry series, after having read book number one i was intrigued....and really ready to know what happens next. Will she get pregnant and take the throne of the Unseelie court? Or will her cousin win the race, produce a child and become king? With all the political issues brewing at the end of the first book this one could have gone many different ways. I'm … more
'Storm Born' is the beginning of a new series for Richelle Mead, and in some ways it's her most adult story yet. Unfortunately, it's also her most predictable and most mundane - which, considering that it's a story steeped in fairies, ghosts, and magic, is more than a little ironic. The tough-as-nails female paranormal investigator is a well-worn concept … more
Riveting, sensual and tantalizing, Eat Prey Love will leave the reader hungry for more by this delightfully talented author! Never before have I had the extreme pleasure to read a book that so effortlessly blends sensuality, humor, fun and a bit of darkness in such a way that Kerrelyn Sparks does with her newest release, Eat Prey Love. Literally, this book has it all; from a … more

In "Russian Winter," Daphne Kalotay unshackles the impenetrable Iron Curtain of the Cold War Soviet Union with a glimpse at the furtive lives and resigned mindsets of some of its representative inmates. She demonstrates that however, the Wall may be disassembled, its reach remains widespread, affecting the present sensibilities of those forever lost within its shadow. Amidst the dimly-lit … more
At last, Breaking Dawn is out in paperback. Eclipse convinced me that this series was getting more absorbing with each new book, so I was eager to get my copy of this but unwilling to pay hardback prices. It was worth the wait. Author Stephanie Meyer portrays the action through two pairs of eyes again, as in Eclipse, using Bella's for most of the tale, and Jacob's for that part when she's … more
ARC review copy provided by Harper Collins. PJV's QUICKIE POV: I thought Evernight (links take you to reviews) was a good YA book. Stargazer and OK follow-up, but Hourglass...blew both books away. Never before has a third in a series entertained and delighted like this book did? A third?? Can you believe it? This book had it all, tragic love, fights for their … more
PJV's Quickie POV: I enjoyed this book tremendously, and had planned on sucking down the sequel quickly, but with an out of control TBR it took me awhile. I was truly taken surprise by this book - which I love. I'm not the kind of person that likes to read the end before the beginning - or find out spoilers before I begin. A book that surprises me is a true treasure. … more

Thorn Queen (Dark Swan Series #2) I am not going into details so I won’t spoil the ending of Storm Queen, but the follow-up I think surpassed the first novel. There was a lot of inner struggling with Eugenie, which was frustrating. I wanted to just shake her and say…”c’mon I’d kill for this to happen to me, stop whining!” But her … more
