Let's be honest: it is quite difficult to eff up ice cream. Ice+cream+something else yummy = OK by me. And if anyone knows how to do a good job utilizing this formula, it's Ben and Jerry. All that being said, sure I'll eat Cherry Garcia if push comes to shove and it's the only ice cream around when I'm craving ice cream. This my one of my forite ice creams! I think I might be the only one in my family who likes it which is odd, oh well...more for me! I usually just buy it in the little single serving containers because I'd be tempted to eat the whole thing if I did. The chunks of cheeries mixed with the chocolate is to die for! Ranks right up there with peanut butter and jelly!
Despite looking extremely cool, I have to admit that I'm a dork. I grew up on the outskirts of the small town of Oberlin, LA. I have since relocated to the Lake Charles, LA area.I love my home state … more

Cherry Garcia is a flavor of ice cream (and low fat frozen yogurt) sold exclusively by Ben & Jerry's. The ice cream itself is cherry flavored and, in addition, it contains pieces of Bing cherries and chunks of chocolate. Ben & Jerry's first began offering this particular flavor in 1987 as a tribute to Jerry Garcia, lead guitarist and vocalist for the Grateful Dead. The name was originally suggested by Jane Williamson.
For a month following the musician's death in 1995, the ice cream was made with black cherries instead of Bings as a show of mourning.
