Great, but...

You won't find a bigger fan of the Flight of the Conchords than me.  Normally, I would give this song and video a 4.5 or 5.  However, after seeing the Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros performed live, I feel the live version is a much better performance.  As strange as it sounds, I actually think something is lost with the show version of most of their  songs (not all, but most).

Either way, this is a fantastically hilarious and brilliant video... but, comparatively, not as great as the live version..

If you are not familiar with the Flight of the Conchords this is a good introduction and a fairly interesting video.     The Flight of the Conchords is a HBO original series, about 2 guys from New Zealand that moved to NYC to start their music careers. I, too, am not a huge fan of the television show. The stage shows, however, are beautiful.    Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros is my original introduction to Flight of the Conchords. How could I not fall in love with them? The brilliant lyrics, the quips, the stark vulnerability... if I could date this song, I would. And what a dedicated girlfriend I would be! I'd kick Steve's ass for my baby!

I actually really love the Flight of the Conchords, but sometimes I like their songs better when they're just on stage as opposed to in the show.  They're a little more raw and sometimes the jokes just come off a little funnier than when they aren't trying to act or dance.  The Hiphopopotamus and the Rhymenoceros are a great example of this.  Check out this clip, in which Bret and Jermaine seem a little more energized... plus in this version you get the Rhymenoceros' "freestyle".
