So my Romantic Honeymoon Hotels list got me thinking about all the different exotic bungalow accommodations in the world. Since this is my dream vacation - honeymoon or not - I want to make an informed choice based on a variety of global locations and property features. Which one do you think sounds the best?
As one of the leading small hotels in the world, the Pearl Beach Resort has 50 water villas, 30 of which are considered "Premium". These Premium water bungalows have views of the lagoons and the mountains. The large terraces on each villa feature a full deck and sun tanning area. Plus all villas are loaded with modern amenities - TV, AC, hair dryer, mini bar, and telephone.
These thatched roof lagoon villas are beautifully decorated with four poster beds, private fresh water splash pools, a jacuzzi, and fine furnishings. Surrounded by the emerald waters of the this Maldives Lagoon, they provide complete privacy and seclusion. And the resort features the Coco Spa with a menu of traditional Indonesian treatments that can also be performed in-villa!
This is an award-winning resort (twice voted Best Hotel in the World) which spans two islands (complete with gorgeous white sand beaches), and is surrounded by turquoise waters and an expansive coral reef. The property includes 50 water villas. Each has it's own private deck, espresso machine and luxurious bathroom treats. The Sunset Water Villas even feature glass floored living rooms and rotating beds!
These water bungalows are built on stilts and decorate both sides of the cove on this Philippines island. Surrounded by forest, the cove creates a perfect habitat for bird watching and exotic wildlife sightings. Each suite is made with antique wood found in old Filipino houses. Perfect for any one who loves the ocean and still wants a vacation spot with loads of activity and adventure.
Situated on one of the world's most beautiful lagoons, Aitutaki is the only private resort in the Cook Islands. These over the water bunglaows are a true authentic experience with thatched roofs, open air showers, private gardens and direct access to the lagoon.
This beautiful hotel is surrounded by the tropical paradise of the Maldives. Adaaran Prestige is decorated with white beaches, palm trees, and 1190 coral reefs perfect for scuba divers. The water bungalows stand atop of turquiose lagoon waters. If you want to blend with the locals, stay somewhere else. This place is top-of-the-line!
11 Premiere deep water bungalows decorate the coast of the Huahine Te Tiare beach along the island of Raiatea. If you are looking for luxury, romance and quiet, this is the place to be. Isolated from the crowds, these bungalows come with their own private decks, jacuzzis, mini bar, TV and telephones. The resort also has a top notch spa, Polynesian buffet and traditional cultural dance performances.
Positioned off of Manolo Island, these are the first over the water bungalows in Fiji. Luxury is the name of the game at this resort, which features 10 over the water bungalows and 35 beach bungalows (18 have their very own plunge pools!). If being a secret agent or rich millionaire is your desired persona, then you'll love this - access to the resort is only by private speedboat, catamaran, plane or helicopter! And it's a couples only resort!
10 over-the-water bungalows arc out into the ocean at Hotel Kia Ora Village. All of these bungalows are decorated in Polynesian artwork and include their very own private deck. Jump into the South Pacific Lagoon and admire the colorful tropical fish. Looks like heaven!
This may still be my favorite - the Four Season's Otemanu Over Water Bungalow with Plunge Pool! This baby comes fully loaded with a beautiful King bedroom, large deck with ladder to the lagoon, pavilion and dining area for four, fully stocked private bar, plasma screen TV (not like you'll be watching it!), deep bathtub, and fresh air, panoramic views of the lagoon. Beautiful!
