Top 10 Films of 2010

  • Jan 1, 2011
Like my personal life, 2010 was a bit of a rocky year for film as well ... or at least I thought it was at the time. I griped all year about how there were no good movies coming out but when it came time to actually narrow down the 120+ films I saw all year to a list of 10, I had a very difficult time doing so. Difficult is relative here as how hard is it really to sit down and think about movies you like? I managed to get her done though and I am ready to share this list with you today. (links to original review are included) (insert drum roll here) Here is Black Sheep's' Top 10 of 2010 ... (in alphabetical order)

Our top ten films of 2010

2010 was truly a year for amazing films. We had The Coen Brothers' fantastic remake of the classic western, True Grit. Films about people overcoming great obstacles...'Frankie & Alice', 'Conviction', 'The Fighter' '127 Hours' and of course, one of the 'Two Jews On Film' favorites...'The King's Speech'. We had movies about a dancer's obsessed with perfection...Darren Aronofsky's brilliant, twisted tale, 'The Black Swan', and a film about a man obsessed with money and power 'Casino Jack'...And then there was that movie about a guy that changed our lives forever...'The Social Network'...one of the best. This also was the year for some excellent crime dramas...'The Town', 'Mesrine' and 'All Good Things'. Of course we mustn't forget the love stories...especially the unusual ones, such as 'I Love You Phillip Morris', 'The Kids Are Alright' and the beautiful-ugly 'Blue Valentine' Or the films about flawed but fascinating men...'Biutiful, and the wonderful 'Barney's Version' This year in cinema finds some of the best work done in small independent productions. 'Winter's Bone, 'Animal Kingdom' 'Jack Goes Boating', 'Mother and Child', 'Life During Wartime', and 'Nowhere Boy'. head the list. Honorable mention goes to 'Tangled', 'How To Train Your Dragon' 'Let Me In', 'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo', and 'Buried' The 'Two Jews On Film' are looking forward to a 2011 filled with many more five bagel movies

Great list, Joseph! My list would be very similar to yours, I am holding off for another week before I post my own list since I need to see "The King's Speech" and hopefully "Blue Valentine". Thanks for posting it in Movie Hype!

Yeah, definitely hold off until you see those two. I think the only film I really regret not seeing before putting the list together is Mike Leigh's Another Year. I guess it will have to wait ... until another year. HA!

Great list! You saw more movies than I did last year. I did not like many of the films either. You might see my reviews and note most of them are classic Hollywood oldies, when they knew how to make films that entertain.

Thank you sir. It was a rough year but I managed to find a few definite gems in there. Certainly not a write-off. The summer was painful though.
