A Christmas List for a Grown Man

  • Nov 20, 2009

I'm 34 years old and yes, I'm making a Christmas list. You see, my wife and relatives often ask "what do you want for Christmas" and my response is inveitably that I don't want anything.  This year, after being asked again, I thought "screw it", I'm making a list.  But now that I've made my list,  If I don't get all of these items, Christmas will be ruined.
Beach Cruiser
I want a new bike for Christmas. I feel like I'm 6 years old.
iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle Seat
I'm always envious of other fathers I see riding around in my hometown with their little ones riding high on the handlebars. This is guaranteed hours of enjoyment for me and my little guy.
Gem Car
Talk about a sweet ride. Perfect way to get around my hometown.
Rip Curl Ebomb Wetsuit
Let's just say my wetsuit I've had for the past 8 years has gotten a little, um, snug. Time to upgrade (both in quality, and size). The review of this wetsuit on Lunch is fantastic.
Kung Fu Lessons
Seems like a natural fit for me.
Music Lessons
There's been too many years of letting innate talent go unused (I've often been told I have a Ben Vereen-Lola Felana thing going on).
Night Vision Goggles
I'd hate to think of a time where I need night vision goggles and don't have night vision goggles.
Nikon Zoom-Nikkor Zoom lens - 18 mm - 200 mm - F/3.5-5.6
I currently own a Nikon D40 digital SLR that I bought at Costco last year. It came in a kit and was a great deal. The kit included the camera, a memory card, carrying case and 2 lenses (an 18-55 and a 55-200). The two lenses are great for my purposes, but I rarely use the 2nd lens (that has the great zoom) because I never have time to change the lenses out. Having the full zoom capability in one lens will allow me to capture all the moments I want without having to swap lenses. Not to mention that only having 1 lens saves a lot of space while traveling.
Nikon – D5000 SLR Digital Camera
I don't need this camera, but hey, its a Christmas list. I get to put things on here that I want, right? Well, who wouldn't want an upgrade to this camera? 12.3 megapixels? My D40 only has 6.1. And the reviews on Costco.com are incredible... everybody loves this camera... 5 stars across the board. Great in low lighting, great from distance, easy to use, etc. And, they're selling it in the same package that I bought my Nikon D40 DSLR with (bag, 2 lenses, memory card, etc) for $899. That's a sick deal. Honey, if you're reading this. I can sell the old camera on eBay. This camera, along with the lens I describe above will ensure us years of quality photos of our little ones, and that's worth all the money in the world, isn't it?
The Singing Machine Pedestal CDG Karaoke with Video Camera (STVG - 1009)
You put a Karaoke mic in my hand, there's a good chance you won't be able to pry it out. Luckily, this sweet set-up that I saw at Costco, has two.
Margaritaville Tailgating Grill
I don't really go to many sporting events anymore, but with this tailgating grill, I may start driving down to the end of my street to tailgate.

What did you think of this list?

Love the list. I hope you get everything you wish for! The only thing better than a bike for Christmas is a bike with a bow on it. ;)

Or in @Butter's case, a bike with a mounted child bicycle seat on it! ;P

I can work with both.

You have a real fun list. Don't hold off on the Kung Fu lessons. You will find the classes invigorating and relaxing at the same time. Your body will thank you.

Awesome list. After a strong start, you lost me a little bit in the middle, but the Tailgating Grill was an epic finish! I didn't see that one coming and I'm glad I stuck it out until the end.

great list. how much fun did you have making this? it's like when we were kids and we'd look through the sears catalog and pick out what we wanted.

So much fun. That's exactly what it was like. I also have a feeling it will be growing as I see interesting things leading up to Christmas.

What a fun list!  Heck, I should make one of these :D  Hopefully, you'll emerge in the New Year as a kung fu-singin'-photographin'-gem car drivin'-grillin'-bikin' with a baby super hero.  Let's hope your Christmas isn't ruined ;P
