I heard next year the Bay to Breakers isn't going to allow people to drink along the race, so I guess it'll be just like every other marathon through the City? I highly doubt the people watching/jogging will be half as fun....

Actually it was not that bad per what I've seen online. There were still nudes (mostly male, sadly) and people dressed up in all kinds of things. It's really a street party and not a race at all. The serious runners ran it and then the other 20,000 or so went to the Breakers. I'm sure most of them did not walk that far, preferring their friends and partying. I heard only a few were arrested for drunkenness. (I'll never understand the desire to get drunk or even to drink alcohol. What's the point? That's a story for another blog. ).

Yeah, maybe. But the guys pissing on trees and littering Golden Gate Park makes me glad they're getting some restrictions. I like the idea of festival and having fun, but it's those ten percent of the jerks that screw it for everyone else. Good tip. :)  Personally they need to charge for these events.  I'm tired of having to pay high taxes to help clean the streets.

I've always been incredibly surprised that they don't charge an entrance fee to run B2B. I mean, you have to close down major city streets, clean up the huge amount of destruction that occurs every year, and probably quite a few dollars spent on increase police watch as well as many other factors. Yea, the 10 percenters suck!

Still trying to decide whether I'm going to run or "run" this year ;D

About this topic

The Bay to Breakers is an annual footrace which takes place in San Francisco, California. The name reflects the fact that the race starts at the northeast end of the downtown area a few blocks from The Embarcadero (adjacent to San Francisco Bay) and runs west through the city to finish at the Great Highway (adjacent to the Pacific coast, where breakers crash onto Ocean Beach). The race is 7.46 miles (12 kilometers) long, and is run on the third Sunday in May. The event is well-known for many participants engaging in varying degrees of public nudity.
