My worst horror/sci-fi movie remakes.

Hollywood has ran out of ideas. The amount of remakes and rebooted film franchises has me scratching my head. But these movies are just terrible and most of the time unwatchable. These remakes are the cream of the crap. I am not including direct-to-video movies because there's a reason why they didn't get a theatrical release.

Who's bright idea was it to do a shot-for-shot remake and change all of the characters personalities? I have to give props to Christopher Doyle because the film's photography looks really nice.

Why do a big budget remake and cheap out on the special effects? The coolest thing about this movie is the poster.

How can you remake a bad film and make it even worse. Yeah this version is so bad that it makes the original a classic.

Godzilla
Terrible remake about that radioactive mutated dinosaur who's always leveling Tokyo. To add insult to injury, the monster in this big budget remake is a giant iguana.

The PG-13 remakes are even worse, I didn't care for the original because I felt that it's highly overrated but compared to this mess I miss it already.

I Am Legend
Bid budget remake of Last Man on Earth and Omega Man. But what made those movies interesting is totally absent from this film. Why even bother calling it I AM Legend when it has very little to do with the original novel?

A movie starring Brendan Fraser
A big budget kiddie adaptation of the Universal classic. Originally this was a George A. Romero film project before he was removed as director for "follow too close to the original movie" instead of remaking it like some Indiana Jones retread.

Overrated and pretentious horror film from Francis Ford Coppola. I don't understand the love for this movie. Too much overacting ruin this movie.

Dude my name like Klaatu. I can't stand this big budget remake of the original fifties sci-fi film. There's nothing entertaining about it.

Oh lordy a lame remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers filled with poorly written characters, a lot of reshot footage and wooden acting.

A very long, tedious and boring remake of Ringu. All the things that made Ringu great (realistic characters, dialog and supernatural overtones) are replaced by the usual cliches and cheap scares.

I totally agree with you on all of these except for I Am Legend which I liked much better than either Last Man on Earth or The Omega Man.

Excellent list. Especially the crappy remake of I AM LEGEND. Whoever botched the screenplay for that one totally missed the point of the film. You also neglected the 90s remake of THE HAUNTING. I really like Liam Neeson, Lili Taylor and Catherine Zeta Jones, but that film stunk to hoch himmel.

There were a few other bad remakes as well: The Time Machine and Planet of the Apes come to mind!!

True there. I love Tim Burton, but when he makes a stinker he really doesn't hold anything back!

As I remember there were two remakes to Invasion of the Body Snatchers. The one with Donald Sutherland and Leonard Nimoy was good for its time but I hated the shock ending. Good list.

Oh, you ARE mad. I loved the first and second remakes of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and the revelation that Donald Sutherland was a body snatcher at the end of the movie was classic!

No, I hated that Don was a Snatcher. Well, that's OK since it scared me to death at the time.
