The Top 10 Worst Films of 2010

  • Dec 27, 2010
2
Furry Vengeance (2010)
A new low for Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields, this family comedy sets environmental activism back years, if not decades.
See the full review, "When Animals Attack".
3
Kick Ass (Movie)
I don't care that it's a stylized comic book movie. An eleven-year-old girl murdering people is not funny.
See the full review, "Since When is it Funny for a Kid to Murder People?".
4
The Final (2010)
Making light of bullying and school shootings is bad enough, but exploiting them in a gory teen slasher film is reprehensible.
See the full review, "When Horror Goes Too Far".
5
The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
Words like "sickening" and "depraved" are for some directors a source of pride. For Tom Six, they should be a source of shame.
6
The Nutcracker in 3D
A fascist Nazi-like rat regime burns toys in furnaces so that the smoke can blot out the sun? Yes mommy, I want to see that movie!
See the full review, "Tchaikovsky is Turning in His Grave".
7
Cielito Lindo
An indecipherable train wreck that rests solely on co-director, co-editor, writer, producer, and executive producer Alejandro Alcond├ęz.
8
SKYLINE (2010 Film)
The lowliest sci-fi B-movies of the 1950s pay more attention to plot that this embarrassing alien invasion turkey.
See the full review, "Don't Go Into the Light....".
10
Tron Legacy
The makers of this sequel to the 1982 cult classic somehow forgot that screenplays are just as important as special effects.
See the full review, "This Movie Needs a System Reboot".

Kick-Ass was fun, and funny. The little-girl-killing-people thing can only be funny if you have a dark sense of humor. Human Centipede wasn't THAT bad in my opinion, but it was by no means good. It existed for exploitation, and that's why I disliked it. I enjoyed "Tron: Legacy" for what it was. But I get annoyed whenever my friends say "I want to see that again JUST FOR THE CGI." I wouldn't watch it again.

Judging by your wording, I think we're closer in agreement on The Human Centipede than it may seem. As for Tron: Legacy and especially Kick-Ass, all I can say is, your opinion is noted.

Great list; I haven't seen any of them - was Furry Vengeance that bad?

Every bit as bad. And worse.

Glad I missed it then!!

Hmm. Haven't seen many of these -- didn't get to the box office very much this year b/c nothing really seemed all that interesting for so much of the year -- but I did enjoy KICK-ASS more than you did. It's probably b/c I just generally find something enjoyable in watching comics-to-films adaptation ... even the bad ones.

Great list! I did not see a lot of films this year, opting to rent out classic Hollywood films from Hitchcock and Frank Capra. Way more interesting. I didn't like Skyline much either. Kick Ass I had no interest, especially when I saw clips on how violent it was -- talk about misleading movie trailers! I liked Tron Legacy as it was an improvement from the 80s original. Thanks!

I haven't seen these, except Kick-Ass, and I'm glad after reading your tips alongside the movies!

I pretty much stand alone in my opinion of "Kick-Ass," and I'm finally at peace with it. I just don't have the sense of humor necessary to appreciate that kind of movie.

No, I think I agree with you on that one....could've lived without seeing it. I didn't HATE it but, I didn't LOVE it, either.

December 31, 2010
Right on. I always heard about Kick Ass and it sounds like the 90's all over again, almost.
December 31, 2010
Indeed so!

Good Lord, can you imagine if someone made "Body Bags" into a movie. Nothing says classy like sexualizing a 14 year old with Double D's.

December 31, 2010
I enjoyed Tron. I agree with you about the Spy Next Door.

Poor Jackie. But I guess no one can be 30 years old forever.

I was waiting for you to post this. I feel so relieved that I only saw 3 of these titles (though I liked KICK-ASS). I am still rather curious about Human Centipede though, friend of mine said it was gruesome. I am wating to see either King's Speech or 'Blue Valentine before I post my own list. Thanks!

Based on what I've read, there's no middle ground when it comes to "The Human Centipede." You will either love this movie, or you will hate it. As for "Blue Valentine," I too want to see that movie, along with "Another Year." If it turns out I should have included them on the top ten list, I'll make a new list called Honorable Mentions.

My daughter and her husband (who is a medical doctor) thought that HUMAN CENTIPEDE was the funniest thing they had ever seen. I have no explanation.
