I've only seen a handful of silent films, to be honest. Of the ones I've seen, Fritz Lang's M was stellar, and I enjoyed most of METROPOLIS. I love the stark visuals, I think, more than any particular genre. Otherwise, I guess I just tend to prefer the 'talkies.'

If you like the darkly atmospheric visuals, you'd like Murnau and Browning too.

What can you recommend?

Obviously, Murnau's "Nosferatu" and "Faust" are at the top of the list. Tod Browning's "The Unknown" and "The Unholy Three" are also classics and they star Lon Chaney Sr. on top of it all.

OK, I'll put them in my smartphone and the next time I'm at the video store I'll see if they have any in stock (it's a HUGE place with excellent selection, so they may have one or another). I dropped Netflix once it's idiotic owner labeled all Americans as "self-absorbed." I don't chime to being called "self-absorbed" by anyone, since I'm very open-minded ... er ... well, except about being called "self-absorbed," that is.
