My love affairs

  • Nov 27, 2010
I’ve had my fair share of love affairs with beds; thousands of them, all across the world, in the air, in the sea and on land. Bed is one of my most favorite places in this world. I cannot live without it for a day! I love my bed more so than anything in this world. Everyone who knows me can attest to that. You’ve got to be someone extra special to even be able to sit on the edge of my bed! ;p

Now, when it comes to bed, I’ve slept in a few thousands of them. No, I’ve no problem with my bed, I simply moved around quite a bit, traveling to different cities and countries led me to many kins and made of beds. So, I guess I do qualify as a bed connoisseur!
So, what does a bed connoisseur have to say about different beds? Yeah, I’ve asked myself that question before I began this review. What kinds of bed do I prefer? Well, for one, I love beds in Starwood group of hotels (aka W Hotels, Westin Hotels, Sheraton, Luxury Collection, St. Regis, etc, etc…). I’m sure thousands of others feel the same too. Starwood has certainly made a name in this regard! It is now selling beds to their customers. Yes indeed, you can order yourself beds online from Starwood Hotels if you so desire and can afford it! I’d have if I live in a country which they deliver!

I do not think them expensive since I lavish my attention on them more so than I do my boyfriends, esp. if one only change one’s bed in about a decade! Well, I assume most people do that since that’s normally when the guarantee from the manufacturer ends! That works out to about 36500 nights of sleep and 3.6 million hours of enjoyment. Definitely cheaper than your iPhone, iPad and McBook Air in terms of total utility!
So, how do we buy a bed that would generate us hours of peaceful sleep? I’m interested in how others shop for their beds. Do you buy them based on prices (affordability), comfort (if so, how do you test it? Softness, hardness?) or brand name? Style & colors? Any other factors you take into account?

Buying  a bed may appear to be simple enough, yet as with the subject matter of sleep, it is not as easy as it appears. Even with the best bed in the world, there are other significant factors to take into account to make a good night sleep. Don’t forget that tiny pillow, comforter and room temperature which may all affect our experiences with our beds.
Last but not least, something as unrelated as the curtains and amount of lights that is being blackout do affect our sleep. Hence, as with all other things in life, each has its part to play and hopefully the whole is greater than the sum of all its parts!
