Wii Remote Controller
Ah the Wiimote, I remember when I first saw these controllers back at E3 2006. I was sitting at home watching X-Play when they were shown along side the new Console. I remember it like it was yesterday, when I saw those controllers for the first time my response I believe was "WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE!!!!!"      Yes the Wiimote was a very odd controller, but its the instrument …

Ya know Lunchers I'm going to share something with you, I wasn't always a Nintendo gamer; in fact my first console ever.....................was actually a Sega Genesis. After the Sega came PS1, it was a great little console that thing, I had a good library of games and everything was good. Then i made he transition to Nintendo and I have been there ever since.      What …

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
Dragon Quest has been the pioneering name in RPGs since the 80's. In fact, Dragon Quest was the series that codified a lot of the little, established facts of life about RPGs that we now take for granted: Class changing, battle bonuses, and head to head combat all have their roots in Dragon Quest.     Now, someone please tell me that Sentinels of the Starry Skies, the ninth entry …

What is it about NANO-BREAKER that's so mindbogglingly awesome? From a critical standpoint, it must be one of the most mediocre PS2 games ever made. But that hasn't stopped me from coming back to it time and time again for close to 7 years now. This is my "comfort food" video game. Whenever I'm depressed, lost or confused, I just flip on this sucker (or watch the cheesy trailer …

posted in The Gaming Hub
WAY before Sonic entered the scene, Sega's most popular character was a freakish little monkey man by the name of Alex Kidd. He couldn't run fast like the legendary hedgehog and his back wasn't covered with serrated blades. Still, he could punch and kick his way through monsters and obstacles like no other square shaped platformer hero could. It's obvious that the monkey man was Sega's …

God of War
I never was a huge fan of the first GOD OF WAR. Sure it was big, loud and gorgeous to look at, but so were ONIMUSHA and DEVIL MAY CRY. And even for the time, the visuals were still not that impressive to say, NINJA GAIDEN for the Xbox or RESIDENT EVIL 4 for the Gamecube. From a gameplay perspective, Kratos lacks the versatility of Dante and his dual pistols. The game tries to make up for it by relying …

Burnout 2: Point of Impact
I have a quick confession to make: I don't like the Gran Turismo series. Now, that's not to say I have anything against it. By all means, the entire series is a marvel of technicality and incredible game design. It's just that I don't find the games, well, fun. They're just not my thing. I don't like building fleets of underpowered, everyday cars and racing endless circuit races in order to eventually …

Dante's Inferno
This pumped up "reimagining" of one of the world's best known literary works sees Italian poet Dante Dante Alighieri remade as a hardened, scythe wielding crusader descending into the depths of hell to rescue his wife Beatrice, who has been transformed from divine savior into a more typical damsel in distress. Literary purists will scream "Blasphemy!"; video game fans will chuckle. If you think about …

Wii Classic Controller Pro
One of the major selling points of the Nintendo Wii was its motion controls. Lots of people bought the system in order to play their games in different ways. But eventually this gimmick got tired and many people wanted a more traditional controller as opposed to the Wiimote and Nunchuck. Cues the Classic Controller. A tiny small (yes I said that) controller for use with Virtual console games and a …

I'll be blunt right off: Golden Axe is overrated! It has clunky mechanics and bugs which were difficult to excuse back when it was a new-fangled arcade game and in the opening of the Silver Era. Over 20 years after the fact, Golden Axe has been devoured and shit out by the Time Monster, and there's no way to let go of its advanced age anymore. And this game, folks, was a CLASSIC! It's a common staple …

Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. has been considered a classic in the world of videogames, and rightfully so.  Despite its 8 bit limitations, this game brought about a lot of fun, replayability, decent graphics (for its time), a catchy soundtrack, and challenge that's all balanced perfectly.      I think Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best of all the Mario games, but this is still a superb …

I've heard that people don't really like this game and that it was like a "prototype". I, personally, think that it's a really good game. I haven't tried the other AC game's, but I soon hope to get AC2.

Crash Bandicoot: WARPED
While I admit nostalgia may colour my perception of this game, to me this is one of the best platformers ever released, while nowadays it might be a bit easy for some gamers, the music, the artstyle, the 'wacky' level design, it all came together to form one amazing experience. Platformer fans owe themselves to try this game, or any of the previous titles. A shame the franchise went downhill …

Ah, I remember the good old days, sitting in front of the TV, playing the old Sega Genesis, awesome games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Shining Force 2, and the NHL series, spectacularly losing my battle against video game addiction.     The Sega Genesis broke new ground when it was released in 1989 with it's 16-bit engine, and it killed it's only 16-bit competition, a popular Japanese …

Demon's Souls w/ Artbook & Soundtrack CD
With Dark Souls releasing on the PC next week and that versions bonus content hitting consoles later this year, I thought I'd talk about Demon's Souls, the game which Dark Souls is the spiritual successor to.      The kingdom of Boletaria is engulfed in a colourless fog after the current ruler, King Allant uses souls to perform dark arts, raising the eldritch abomination …

Super Mario Bros. 3
Many gamers consider this the best game in the NES library, and while I won't say that since I don't think I've played a wide enough array of games for that console to come up with such a conclusion, I'll say that this is my favorite game with the Mario title on it. This is my favorite of all the Mario games since I think among Mario's "classic" games, this one is the …

When I became a PC gamer after acquiring an Alienware Aurora gaming desktop in the summer of 2010, I've been hearing good and bad things about this game-playing application called Steam. In December of that year, I finally started using the Steam app that was built into my machine and since December is a part of the year where Steam has tons of sales for games, I went crazy buying heavily-discounted …
