I'll be the first to admit that J.Crew has mastered the basics, and has always got your back when you are in a frenzy to find something simple, but highly necessary, like a black skirt, or a cropped jacket. However, if I really want to spice up my closet, it is definitely not the first store I go to. And Spring is always about reinventing yourself.

Therefore, I was not expecting to find much in their April Enchanted collection that would catch my eye. But I was wrong. Two pieces did jump out from the rest. The first, my personal favorite, are their overalls. OVERALLS? Yes. Ever since my friend bought a white pair of overall shorts in high school, I have been wondering about their popularity and durability. But lo and behold, they have survived! And J. Crew does them better than ever. Overalls are the one thing that should not be overly done, since the shock factor of just putting them on is high. Pair these cute and functional, tastefully ripped and distressed pair with a cute J. Crew belt, sandals and killer shades, and you're looking enchanting already. Find them here.
My second favorite piece are the "un-sweatpant." These terry sweatpants, are J. Crews "fashionable take" on the pants. Why not? They're comfortable and cute and come in a variety of colors, some that are Spring-oriented, and some that will still look good as we're cramming for exams in December. And who doesn't want to look good during exams?

My first thought when checking out J. Crew's April Enchanted collection was," Wow, great photography." Notice, I did not say, " Wow, great clothes." The first thing I love about this collection is its name. "April Enchanted" excited the little girl in me so much that I was convinced I loved it before I even saw it. I was expecting pastels, lots of tulle, and sparkles. My taste hasn't matured much since I was five... I do like the collection to an extent. It has simple separates that I feel can work nicely for summer internships. My favorite piece is the cream ruffled tank. It's chic and can work with many different outfits. However, as much as I love the simplicity and chicness of the collection, it's just not my cup of tea. I'm a huge color person, and the dusty pinks and hints of purple prints aren't enough to satisfy me. I'm just a big fan of "wow" prints and colors. … more

The inside cover says it all: "Our collection is designed for mixing and matching." Indeed, a lot of their pieces are shown throughout the catalog, something I've always liked because it shows how you can build a wardrobe. I think there is definitely a "J Crew" kind of person. I've even heard people describe their own personal style as "very J Crew" but I never really have been able to understand how someone can base their entire look on this aesthetic. After looking through JCrew's Spring 2010 collection, I concluded that the must have item currently in stores is the baggy broken-in boyfriend short. Following the craze of boyfriend jeans, JCrew is right on target producing a short that is a little looser then the usual teeny cut-off shorts seen for spring. I'm digging those un-sweatpants, too! As is @Sammy_Luterbach in her April Enchanted review. Those look like one of the more comfortable pants that you could leave the house with. Great review, Ana! :)
