Spielberg's Best Films!

  • Jul 31, 2009
As one of the most successful American directors, Steven Spielberg has contributed much to our pop culture landscape. With his tales of adventure, cautionary sci-fi stories, heart-warming family films, and harrowing historical epics, he's proven that a director can have a commercial hit that will also appease the critics. Here are my top favorite Spielberg films (I've not explained why I've put them in the order that I have, because I want you to ask me (my own little way to encourage the Lunch staff to add a comment box feature to the lists and also I should point out that "E.T." and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" come in at a tie)...

What did you think of this list?

Dude great list man and I enjoyed all of them, but HOOK was excellent man, I was thinking of reviewing it since I watched it again this past week. AS a matter of fact I was thinking of reviewing the J. Park series as well since I watched them again the same day.

Again, so few people liked that film and I find myself in the minority who thought that it was really good.

Dude, I LOVED Hook.  It was one of my favorite movies as a kid.  I don't know why everyone keeps giving Spielberg flack for it.  It's a wonderful movie!

You get a genuine pat on the back for coming out and saying that about a film that has been given the most unfair appraisals in his career. Other than myself and an old childhood friend, you may be the only person I know who thought it was great. Personally, I would've preferred someone else as Tinkerbell (not a big Julia Roberts fan), but that film is spectacular just for the stuff between Bob Hoskin's Smee and Dustin Hoffman's Capt. Hook.

Hey, guess what? We can comment on lists now! As I said elsewhere, I doubt that very many people would put both TEMPLE OF DOOM and HOOK on a list of Spielberg's best! You certainly have the courage of your convictions.

Yeah, I was begging them to add a comment box and a rating option. Half of the wish was fulfilled, so that's not bad in my book. On Amazon I would've just gotten a generic "Thanks for you input" response and then nothing else. Here they at least listen and take what we say into consideration.

Yeah, that's nice for a change
