Nordstrom is a department store. It has the department store feel and offers department store merchandise.
Pretty much carries everything but doesn't over do it. For some reason it's easier to locate the section you want at Nordstrom than some other department stores. You don't find yourself lost in a labyrinth of clothes trying to figure out if this is the right floor to find that perfect special occasion dress.
Customer service is great. By this I don't mean that the sales people fawn over you and follow you around the store ready to jump at your every whim (I can't stand that). I mean if you have a question or need to return/exchange, it's usually hassle free.
I don't have too many complaints about Nordstrom other than that most of the stuff they offer is garden variety. It's pretty vanilla...but then again that makes it a great place to go if you're looking for something basic or classic that will last you more than one season.
One stop shopping is kind of cool. Shoes, clothes, accessories, and make-up all in one place? Nordstrom is a smart choice when you're in need of a department store and not a boutique.
The other day I was browsing through my local Nordstrom and came across a Marc Jacobs key pouch that I, well, just had to have.
