Get Your Oil Changed

I haven’t always been a fan of cleansing oils. The whole concept seemed backwards: “aren’t I trying to get the oil OFF my face?“. It brought horrible thoughts of Crisco tips from my mom’s Redbook magazines.

We eventually I saw the light and bought a CCB Paris Makeup Cleansing oil (which I would happily link to but they sadly no longer make it). I now think cleansing oils are the best cleansers. They remove every drop of makeup, leave no residue and don’t cause any “just washed tightness” to the face. They are great.

Oils have recently become uber popular, brands like Decleor, DHC, Shiseido and Lancome all have at least one cleasning oil in their arsenal. However, the originators of the cleansing oil, Shu Uemura, have relaunced their iconic oils with Moyoco Anno Skin Purifier – Fresh’ High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil and their Moyoco Anno White Recovery EX+’ Brightening Cleansing Oil. All of Shu Uemura’s cleansing oils are formulated using the unique hpo (high performance oil) system, a complex combination of three moleculary distinct oils that trap the lipophilic residue of stubborn waxes and oils found in waterproof mascara, foundation and lip color.

Not only are these amazing oils made to cleanse deeply, moisturize and brighten- they also have bottles designed by famed Japanese Manga artist: Moyoco Anno. The delicate chrysanthemum adorning the Fresh Cleansing Oil is one of Japan’s most symbolic flowers and the Brightening Cleansing Oil features an image of the coquettish Tokyo kamon girl, Katsura.  Super cute and perfect to not only brighten your face, but your bathroom counter as well

Cost: $75 (yes, I know, pricey. So worth it- but if you can’t splurge, try the Origins
alternative for $18.00)

Yes, I agree with u. Shu Uemura cleansing oils are great. I haven't tried the two bottles featured here though. I had the normal skin version (yellow) and tried the sample given for aging skin (green) but I don't like the smell of the green one. I think there are some other samples which came with the gift set which I haven't tried yet. I like 2 other products from Shu Uemura if you've yet tried it. It's the nail polish and the loose power. They are even better than Shiseido's although I do love Shiseido's nail polish too. The other cheaper alternatives to this cleansing oil is Shiseido's but they may not be available everywhere (one with a blue bottle and another one red, normally not sold at Shiseido's counter but you can definitely find them at Narita's airport). Neutrogena has a pretty good one too, athough it takes a bit of time to get used to the smell. It's really cheap though, less than $15!
