Hey there, Barbie Girl! That's me wearing my Zoya Barbie Nail Polish!

Pros: Pretty, subtle shade, long wearing, shiny, not too sheer, buildable color, high quality

Cons: A tad lighter and PINKER than I usually wear but it works for me.

The Bottom Line: Zoya Twist Collection Barbie Nail Polish is a subtle, girly pink that can be sophisticated or fun. Long wearing and shiny, Zoya is right up there with OPI!

I recently found a coupon to get three free Zoya nail polishes from the Zoya website. I just had to pay shipping. Since the site has over 300 shades to choose from, I was totally unsure which to pick. I decided to go way out of my comfort zone and get something light and girly as opposed to the greens, blues, and plums that I usually wear.

Zoya Twist Collection Barbie fit the bill. It's a bubble gum pink frost shade that actually is very appealing!

About Zoya Twist Collection Barbie

Zoya makes nail polishes for salons and spas and is considered a "professional" polish. Barbie is warm frost shade with the intensity level of 3 meaning it's right in between very sheer and very opaque.

The .5 ounce bottle is Italian glass and the brush is made in Spain. The polish itself is made in the United States. Barbie is described as a soft pink which, indeed, it is.

The bottle is somewhat angular and heavy. The brush looks to me like any nail polish brush but it gives great coverage without splaying all over my nails. All Zoya polishes are free from are free from formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate.

My Experience

When my three choices came, I tried all three on my fingernails just to see if the shades were true to what they looked like in the bottles. They were. Zoya Twist Collection Barbie is exactly what you would expect a nail polish called "Barbie" to look like. It is a super girly soft pink. I didn't see any shimmer in the bottle nor did I on my nails.

I finally decided to polish my fingernails all one shade and gave Zoya Twist Collection Barbie a try. I am not one for pink ANYTHING but this polish looked quite pretty and subtle. It doesn't have shimmer or glitter but it does have a pearly finish. I only really needed one coat but went with two for longer wear.

I had no problems with application. The brush is just wide enough to cover a good amount of nail without getting on the sides of my fingers (or toes) and the polish dried quickly to a shiny finish.

The first coat looked good but the second looked better. The pink hue deepened slightly and the shine was amped up. I didn't even bother using a top coat. Zoya Twist Collection Barbie stayed on my nails for at least a week before starting to chip. Considering I didn't use a base or top coat and I am VERY tough on my hands and nails, that's a very good length of time for any polish to last.

Because the shade is light, I was able to touch up little chips to extend the wear for a few more days before removing the polish to try another shade. The polish comes off just fine with my usual nail polish remover.

The Twist collection is a set of six different shades that came out in spring 2009.  Other Twist shades include Harley (soft shimmering gray), Jo (shimmering silver blue metallic), Malia (violet cream), Cassi (shimmering soft peach) and Moxie (vibrant red plum cream).

I wish I could try all 300 shades of Zoya polish!

Buying Info

Zoya Twist Collection Barbie and all 299 other shades of Zoya Nail Polish cane be purchased on the odicial Zoya website and from sites that carry salon nail polishes. I don't know where Zoya polishes are sold offline, perhaps nail salons. A bottle costs around $6.50.

Zoya nail polishes are really high quality. They apply easily, dry fast, shine like crazy, and last for a long time on the nails. Zoya Twist Collection Barbie is great for those who like soft shades or who like pink polish that isn't in your face pink. I actually quite like the shade and I have shunned pink polishes for many years. I would repurchase but I want to try many other shades from the Zoya collection before I repeat one! This is very good nail polish and the shade is universally flattering. 5 stars. I love it!
