My Switzerland...

God, I love this country! I really like hiking, swimming, mountain biking in the summer and going sledding in the winter and Switzerland is the best place to combine all that. Additionally, there are some beautiful towns like Lucerne, Zurich, Bern, Thun, Lausanne, Lugano, Chur,... I could go on for hours.

So, if you ever have the chance to travel to Switzerland, please keep your eyes open! It's worth it. You won't see anything similar in the whole world. It's the perfect combination of tradition, modernity, rural, untouched landscapes and picturesque villages and cities.

A typical Swiss guy is a bit shortspoken, modest, nearly shy. Try not to boast or speak too loud; these are only two out of many things Swiss people regard as unseemly. Another one by the way is walking around too flashily-dressed. So just adapt to the habits of the Swiss and you will see that Swiss people are polite, friendly and hospitable. And a bit slow, too. :-)

If you intend to stay there, I wouldn't suggest you search for hotels as there are a lot more other forms of accommodation which are a lot cheaper. Try searching for holiday flats via REKA or INTERHOME. Try contacting some farmers who lease a part of their farm for tourists. Or try finding some camping sites if you're on the road with a caravan.

In Switzerland, you can't pay with Euros, maybe only in the big cities as Lucerne and Zurich. The national currency is called Swiss Franc. The prices for everything are far higher than in the rest of Europe. This is because Switzerland doesn't import as much as other European countries, but predominantely makes use of own products. As the production as well as the resources aren't that high and the products are of a fantastic quality, you can imagine that the products are sold at expensive prices.

Nevertheless, Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries of the world and it's always worth a visit.

Walt, Great review man! I am a huge fan of Switzerland. I spent a good amount of time in Interlaken swimming, hiking, and jumping of mountains with parachutes. The country is so beautiful, especially in the summer! I can't wait to go back!

I have to agree with you, Ryan. I've seen a lot of European places now and Interlaken was probably my favourite of the entire lot. Incredible beauty.

thank you, guys. I also like Interlaken very much, it's definitely one of the places I'll never forget. If you've got the chance, visit Lucerne. The town is so lovely and the view's also fantastic. Another favourite place of mine is Ascona in Ticino.

I once took a road trip through Switzerland and it is definitely gorgeous, and the people are so nice!  Food is amazing, as well (I'm hoping you give some recommendations!).  Thanks so much for the tip on where to stay.  That will definitely come in handy! :)
