Upcoming fantasy films.
Okay, so we all know that since Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings became so trendy that fantasy films would become a big fad in Hollywood. Now, there's a way to make these films and a way not to make these films...

If I were to look at the teaser poster for the new Red Sonja film, I would say it's a safe bet that this film would be an example of what not to do in a fantasy film, but you decide.

Personally, I think this film needs to be done in the spirit of Robert E. Howard's original character or in the spirit of the comics. This doesn't mesh with either version.

It reminds me of the Dynamite Entertainment comic book than anything Howard wrote.  I bet the artist is attempting to take advantage of the vampire craze.  I want to see a Conan remake, actually.

Well, the first poster is ridiculous. What's with the blood fascination? I saw the Red Sonja movie from 1985, and I don't remember her character having any fascination with blood. That poster makes her look like a vampire! I do admit the appeal with the second poster, which I think is much better. I'm pretty stoked that Hollywood is remaking this film. I hope they do it justice!

That's how I feel. She's meant to be a feminist-warrior character; not a vampire. Personally, I have very mixed feelings about this film. I love Robert E. Howard's pulp adventures, but they haven't proved to be the most successful when translated to film. I think part of the issue is that people have added to the original stories, characters, and concepts so much through other mediums that filmmakers aren't sure which fans they're supposed to cater to. This film looks like it will have more to do with the comics (based on the chain-mail outfit) than the prior film and even less to do with the original stories. Plus, I'm not sure that the cast and the director are the right people to bring this to life. Their take on it seems quite cartoony.

Chronicles of Narnia, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is coming: http://www.narniaweb.com/info/narnia-movie-f...ge-of-the-dawn-treader/

I have yet to see Prince Caspian or to read the original books, I'm so behind.  Another reason to live to be 103!

Red Sonja:  Looks like they're having financial difficulties and Mcgowan is out!  See quote:

‘Red Sonja’ has had several delays, which producer Rodriguez explains is due to the parent company, Millennium Films, having financial difficulties. It seems that the project is now in complete turn-around, with original director Douglas Aarniokoski now off the project and Millennium looking for a new writer to take another pass at David N. White’s script.

The filmmakers might now regret the stylish posters they introduced at ComicCon 2008, featuring McGowan as Sonja.

I don't know, I say they were headed in the wrong direction with her anyhow. Hopefully this works out best for fans.
