When I read Alice In Wonderland as a child, I had no idea about the effects of magic mushrooms, nor do I now. So, whether or not the book or film is about such matters remains beyond my scope of reality. However, I seriously doubt that a children's book portrayed anything related to drugs. This was a book I picked up out of interest due to the 'Alice in Wonderland' movie that was recently released. I haven't seen the film yet, but I CAN say that the book was a fun, fluffy read in between heavy reads. Even though it is a children's novel, there is a bit more depth to the story than what is presented. I don't know which Alice movie they're referring to, but they all make one mistake, so hear this loud and clear - the Alice books are, and were intended to be, NONSENSE. Any attempt to impose a moral on them is a heinous sin. Period.

I loved this book growing up. I don't know what drew me to it the first time but I'd always ask my mom to read some of it to me before bed. I think the great thing about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is that it incorporates so much into the story. There are scary parts as well as funny parts, mystery and adventure, along with a ton of great characters to go along with it. It was Willy Wonka who told as that, “A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men,” but it was Lewis Carroll who showed us what that means. honestly, i liked the walt disney movie better than the original books, through the looking glass included. its was like the story was just slow paced in the books. then again it was meant for children. and everyone i think can agree that walt disneys movies werent actually meant for children after all.

I simply love the way Lewis Carroll writes. There's so much wordplay and so many frivolities. It's silly, and it's episodic, and it's for kids, but it's a fun read.
