I didn't even like his books when I was a kid. Very odd. Quite addicted to them now.

Lewis is not usually considered "Science Fiction" though his "Space Trilogy" is an outstanding work, esp. the third volume.

C.S.Lewis along with his Jewish wife, Joy Gresham, embraced Christianity. Their marriage was performed at Joy's death bed and she died of bone cancer shortly after the ceremony. To read Lewis' magnificent epitaph for Joy, here is the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joy_Davidman

Lewis was an imaginative writer who had a wonderful understanding of children's minds and their thought processes. Unfortunately, Lewis' books are deeply influenced by his conservative Christian and British colonial worldview and as such his books seem old-fashioned and at times intolerant of non-European cultures.
