Nerd meets ghost in this exciting tale of terror

  • Aug 21, 2012
What if ideas and dreams and obsessions had paranormal power? What if the depth of someone’s feeling might determine the strength of a ghost’s ability to interact with the world? And what if someone were truly obsessed—how soon might they become possessed?
R. J. Sullivan’s Haunting Obsession is a truly haunting tale with a ghostly terror reminiscent of Marilyn Munroe—who else would command such obsessive love? She wants to be loved. She only wants to be loved. But, after so long dead, she wants it rather overwhelmingly.
A ghost story for nerds and all their friends, this novella’s filled with vibrant modern life, from computers to Star Trek to cell-phones and shared apartments. Poor Marilyn’s thrust into the inexplicable. Lucky Daryl’s the recipient of the unobtainable, and nerdgirl Loretta’s trying to work whether or not she wants her boyfriend back.
Bringing 50s and 60s characters to life as convincingly as those of the present day, the author adds such well-drawn paranormality you’ll almost want to check on the internet to see what your state has to offer. A thoroughly enjoyable short read, nicely plotted and planned, and convincingly intriguing, I really enjoyed this one. If I had it in paperback it would go on my shelf next to Peter Joseph Swanson’s much-loved Hollywood Sinners.
