Theatricality" is the twentieth episode of the American television series Glee. The episode is expected to premiere on the Foxnetwork on May 25, 2010. It was directed by series creator Ryan Murphy, and will see Tina having an identity crisis, making the glee club pay tribute to Lady Gaga, performing in a selection of her costumes.
Tina will have an identity crisis, which leads Will to teach the club a lesson about theatricality, dividing the club, in two groups: the girls and Kurt (Chris Colfer) performing Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance", and the rest of the boys performing a Kiss number. Also, Rachel finally meets her biological mother, Shelby. Kurt's dad wants Finn and his Mom to move in, and Finn doesn't take it well.
The episode was originally intended to air on June 1, 2010, but was switched in the schedule with "Funk". "Bad Romance" took six hours to film, with series creator Ryan Murphy, who also directed the episode, describing it as "big and athletic and hard." Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry, damaged her knee from exertion during the performance. As well as allowing Glee the rights to her songs, Lady Gaga also loaned the series her costume designer to recreate her signature looks.
