Animal Cookies for Gluten-Free or Food Allergy Kids

  • Feb 14, 2010
We all remember animal cookies or animal crackers from our childhood -- and what fun to experience them again through your kid's eyes! But if your child can't have gluten or has other food allergies, most animal cookies on the market are off-limits. Don't worry... there are several brands now making them free of gluten and other allergens! I hope this list makes you and yours happy!
1
Kinnikinnick Foods
Three flavors of animal cookies available: Kinnikritter Animal Cookies, Kinnikritter Chocolate Animal Cookies and Kinnikritter Graham Style Animal Cookies. In addition to being gluten-free, they are also dairy-free, nut-free and egg-free. They contain soy lecithin and peas.
2
Orgran
Several flavors of animal cookies available: Outback Animals Vanilla (also in Mini), Outback Animals Chocolate (also in Mini), Itsy Bitsy Bears. In addition to being gluten-free, they are also dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free.
4
Jo-Sefs Gluten Free
Vanilla and chocolate animal cookies available. In addition to being gluten-free, they are dairy/casein-free, lactose-free, egg-free, and nut-free. Products are processed in a dedicated nut free and gluten-free kosher facility. They contain soy.
5
Mi-Del
Not all cookie flavors made by this company are gluten-free, but the Arrowroot Animal Cookies are. They do contain egg, soy and milk. Regarding nuts, the website says: "Only Pecans are run on the MI-DEL line of bagged cookies. Peanut Butter Cremes are sometimes produced on the same line that makes the MI-DEL Sandwich Cookies but strict sanitation/allergen procedures are in place to avoid any potential contamination."
