Where gourmands come to meet/eat.
a question by Feb 22, 2011
I need a make-ahead recipe to feed 14 women. Does anybody have any good recipes I can use? The challenges:

It has to be made-ahead for the most part, I'm going to be feeding them after my bridal shower but, before we all go out for the night.

It needs to be transportable, I'll be taking public transportation along with a carryon for the weekend.

It has to be kinda a quick eat.

Thanks :)

That is one helluva challenge! I'm thinking wraps -- like with spinach tortillas with coleslaw, honey mustard and turkey, etc. Or a version with like figs, cream cheese and ham. You can roll them all in wax paper and pop into big ziplocs (a few will fit in each). Not sure if you were thinking of cold food, but hopefully this is helpful! Enjoy the celebration!!

Can't go wrong with sandwiches! You'd have to make them a close as possible to when you're about to eat them so the bread doesn't get soaked. If you have to make them several hours in advance and want to avoid soggy bread, I would hold off on putting condiments and wet veggies on them. I would only make the sandwiches with meat, cheese and lettuce, and bring tubes of mayo, mustard, and relish, plus a little tub of pickles and sliced tomatoes, etc, so that the ladies can put them on themselves!
