Disclaimer: I've never had Vietnamese food before so I can't say I'm an expert. That being said, Fernando and I happened into Madame Tam's for Happy Hour on Tuesday and we loved every delicious minute of it. Their Tiki bar, where we dined, just opened two months ago to compliment or help the crowded Bistro next door. This is a review for the bar. Here's the lowdown:
Booze: Cheap and delicious for HH. I had the White Sangria (and I'm a Sangria snob but, I liked their drink which they make there with all the right ingredients. There's just not too much fruit). Hubby had Sapporo draft and how can you mess that one up? They also had a $5 Margarita that I almost tried....oh, well next time.
Food: I had the honey pork Banh Mi sandwich and my hubby had the chicken one. I asked the bartender, who was super sweet and attentive, what she liked and she said the pork with fried egg. Normally, I wouldn't go for anything like that but, I was in an adventurous mood. It. Was. PHENOMENAL! The best sandwich I've had in a loooong time. Hubby enjoyed his as well but, agreed mine was better. Both sandwiches were served with cucumber, pickled carrots & daikon, and jalapenos. Fernando added Grilled Onions to his and I took out the jalapeno.
Grilled Chicken with Grilled Onions: $5.99 Honey Grilled Pork with Fried Egg: $5.99
Service: Sweet and attentive bartender who entertained a couple of single guys next to us without putting on any kind of an attitude. She was super helpful with her suggestions.
Atmosphere: 90s pop with Tiki lounge decor- it actually worked in a very quirky way for me but, I love all 90s music AND Tiki decor lol.
Highly recommended if you're in Palo Alto for Happy Hour- you won't be sorry!
