By now, most Berkelieans probably know that there's a somewhat upscale fusion Indian bistro in the Gourmet Ghetto by the name of Mint Leaf, but did you know that they have an awesome late night menu? Most people I've talked to don't seem to know about it, so let's cut the chit chat and talk late night menu!
I've been to Mint Leaf for dinner before, but I didn't know that they opened till midnight till this past Christmas when my regular Christmas Day joint closed early (yes, they're open on Christmas and New Years!). Thus, when my friends and I drove down the street and saw lights and people at Mint Leaf, it was like we struck gold, and when we discovered their special late night menu -- double gold.
The late night menu starts at 10 AM to midnight Mondays through Saturday, consisting of a selection of their most popular dishes, and there's something for everyone. The dishes are small, yet pretty filling. Think tapas-sized Indian food, and remember that this is fusion, so it's not traditional Indian food. It's still pretty darn tasty, though. They're great to share with friends, so you can try a little of everything. The prices are fantastic, too. Curry dishes with a bit of rice are $5.95 a dish, and most other dishes on the menu are around the same price, too. I'm a big fan of their chicken soup and lamb curry dishes.
The downside: Not very many people dine here during the late night hours, versus Fonda about a mile down the road, which has pretty long waits on some nights. Since not too many people eat here during that time, they're really inconsistent with their hours. Sometimes they'll close up the kitchen at 10:45 or 11. Other times, I'll show up at 11:30 and they'll still be serving. The bar stays open meanwhile though. Oh, and there's no booze on the special menu. Hey Mint Leaf, add a few cocktails!
Maybe if more people start showing up, they'll be more consistent with their hours. Hint hint ;)

Sounds tasty...and I dig fusion. Wrong coast, though.

Well, if you're ever on this coast, you know where to go! ;)
sounds pretty good. Have you been to AMBER'S, Lady D? It's a new fusian Indian gourmet restaurant around Market Street. You may like it.

I've never been to Amber before, but I've heard the wonders of it. I'll need the check it out since all the restaurants that I've been to in that area are pretty fab! :)
Well, if there is any place that are still open until midnight, it's usually either Chinese & Indians'! What can I say, these people work long hours! Curry for midnight? Why not? I might get used to the idea ;p
