Jamie Oliver's stirred up quite the controversy since he's hit the scene; some love him and others think he's a spoiled brat. And yet others simply think he's gone mad. Take his daughters names for instance; Poppy Honey, Daisy Boo, Petal Blossom Rainbow (whose birth was announced via Twitter). Or the time he slaughtered a chicken on a live TV show in the UK. Yes, he did it humanely, but no it still doesn't sit right in my stomach.
Despite his criticisms, it's hard not to love his creations in the kitchen. I first spotted Jamie's fun, quirky personality on one of his best known shows, the Naked Chef on the food network and I happen to think he's a genuinely good guy. Famous for liking his food unpretentious, fresh (handpicked from your garden or the local market) and undoubtedly, delicious, I've come to trust his recipes quite a bit. His easy-going, non technical approach to cooking leaves you feeling stress free and excited to prepare his recipes for your family & friends. Jamie's cooking instructions lack the precise measurements expressed in most recipes, giving us wanna-be chefs the opportunity to add our own flavor to every meal.
Jamie has deservingly turned his passion for food into a empire of hit TV shows, cookbooks, restaurants, charity work and even a popular website for foodies, sort of like a Rachel Ray of the UK (although he definitely has his share of American groupies too) .
Although I have mixed emotions on this guy, one thing we can all agree on is that he does create incredible recipes that are hard to resist!
