Foster's- Australian for crap

The first time i tasted Foster's was with a group of Australian tourists in Europe and it was one of the worst beers i have ever tasted. Even worse was that the beer was on tap and I have almost never had a bad tasting draught beer. The after taste was bitter and unlike the bitterness of a stout and the foamy head lacked the smooth refreshing taste of lager. Puzzled,  I then asked the group of Australians as to whether they actually drink this stuff. They replied with, "No. We don't actually know any Australians that actually drink this beer." That explains it.

Foster's is so bad, i would rather drink PBR.

Beers don't have to be good when they come in an oil can!

I totally agree. I had an ex who would always drink Fosters out of the "oil can" which is code for "huge can"...awful stuff.

My first intro to this Aussie beer in an"oil can" was when I was a new 2nd Lieutenant in the army. I was blown away by the size when I saw it in the "class 6" store in 1980. Lots of beer in a can, I was blown away by the size. The taste is great. However, consider the fact that my favorite beer is free beer, and my all time favorite beer is, cold free beer!!!

They don't even drink Foster's in Australia.

Actual Australian Foster's is a fairly decent beer, but hasn't been imported to the US for 20-odd years. If you read the details of manufacture on the label (definitely in small-print), you'll discover that this "Australian Famous Beer" is made in Canada by Carling Inc, and as such it bears only a slight resemblance to the original.
