There Is No Other Dressing Like Ranch...

Ranch dressing is far and away my favorite dressing (but not my waistlines!) I remember as a kid when my mom used to always make it from scratch (which is always best btw) and we would put it mostly just on salads back then. As years went by I noticed more people using it on things like potatoes, bread sticks and pizzas. Obviously ranch had taken on a whole new dimension. It was no longer just a salad dressing but a topping for just about anything your little heart desired.
My favorite? Ranch with Pizza and on any kind of potato
Any the diet Ranch just doesn't cut it! It's gotta be the real thing or nothing at all!

I'm not a fan of ranch anymore (except for the Buttermilk Ranch from Jack in the box to go w/my curly fries!!)... but I agree with you, Diet Ranch (and diet most things) just don't cut it.. and I normally think, I'd rather eat the normal food product and LESS of it than the skim and eat the diet one that doesn't even taste good. I love food too much! =)

There is something about Ranch dressing that keeps me coming back for more, even when I probably shouldn't. For example, do you like your pizza with Parmesan cheese? Not me. I'd rather have it with Ranch. Why? Because Ranch dressing is simply one of my favorites. I eat it with anything you can imagine, from French fries to raw vegetables, and use it copiously on salads.     The interesting thing for me is that no two Ranch recipes are similar. No matter where you go, from restaurant …

About this topic

Wiki

Ranch dressing is a condiment sauce made primarily from buttermilk or sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, minced green onions, and other seasonings, depending on taste. It is one of the most popular salad dressings in the US (along with Italian dressing) and is often used as a dipping sauce for various foods, including fried foods and raw vegetable snacks.

Ranch was originally developed at Hidden Valley Ranch, a dude ranch near Santa Barbara, CA. Steve and Gayle Henson, the ranch operators, created the dressing in Alaska but began selling it at their ranch in California. The dressing was instantly a success and their recipe was purchased by Clorox in 1972, who refined the original recipe and has owned rights to it ever since.
