Drink From Blue Glass: Kicking the plastic water bottle habit

First we learned that disposable plastic drinking bottles have helped create the biggest 'landfill' on Earth (in the Pacific Ocean), and then we learned what it takes (the hidden cost of making them); crazy quantities of oil and... {get this!} of....water!!:.):
Finally we heard that drinking water sitting around in plastic bottles is a BAD idea; something unpleasant is leached into our drinking water.... Time to switch to a new receptacle!

What happened next was several fantastical invitations:

Dr Emoto (Japanese) came out with his research about how water responds to Us; our intent, our focus, our appreciation. Since there had already been rumblings about Water privatization, even projected Water Wars, we didn't need much persuading to focus some deliberate Appreciation on our Water

Then came (Hawaiian) Dr Hew Len's encouragement to put drinking water in a blue glass bottle and stand it out in the sun for the benefits that affords (and then my sister told me; leave it out in the moonlight as well and let me know if you can't tell the difference (and indeed; I could).

And that was how I came to be looking for blue glass bottles.

Sym.Blue.Ology
are Italian blue glass bottles with appreciation symbols and messages sand-blasted into them. Now this is my bottle of choice, with its cool stopper and rubber seal. AND, you can feel good about the purchase not least of all because this (Hawaiian) company gives a percentage of profits for water clean-up initiatives.

Best of all to me, Sym.Blue.Ology blue glass water bottle company has recently added Hummingbird Water Woman design, specifically to raise funds for Native elders convening for the Waters of the Earth.

Endnote: Also check out Drifter51's Bottled Water Review ~ he and I share a numinous memory from first sighting of bottled-water-for money???? (for pity's sake!!!)

Nice packaging. What I don't get is why can't you guys drink from the tap? I can understand if you're living in China but even in China, once tap water is boiled, it is drinkable. Why do Americans need to drink from bottled water? I know it can be a personal choice over coffee, juices or coke, but to pay so much for it when you can simply get your water for home... I don't get it :-)

Just to clarify Sharrie, we ARE drinking from the tap. These blue glass bottles come EMPTY. In our City, the tap water does have a funny taste which evaporates in an open bottle outside for 24 hours. In addition, we carry our tap water around in bottles for drinking when we're out and about.

Ah, I see. Misconception. I've always thought bottled water means you know, mineral water or some other kind of water.

Actually, I've seen lots of Americans ordering for bottled water in restaurants, not only in foreign countries but also within the U.S. I personally don't like tap water either but I do boil them. Personally, I prefer diet coke for my water supply :-)

Thanks for the heads up on these pretty bottles, Corrina!  I love the way they look and that part of their purchase benefits the environment :)  By the way, I think you'll appreciate this review on bottled water.
