Having lived in South East Asia for the majority of my life, Winter Solstice is not quite meaningful. However, in my last 3 years of living in China, I noted it as a reasonable important festival! In fact, so much so it's probably 1 of the 10 most important festivals in China. Somewhat like the Chinese New Year's Eve, everyone goes home for reunion dinner!
