The American version of the first novel in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series.
< read all 32 reviews When I picked up the novel and read its title, I was puzzled. But upon reading it, I was thrilled to have discovered it (not hard since JK Rowling is most of the most recognizable names). I would recommend this book for people of all ages. The plot transcends any gender or age barriers. How can you say no to a battle between good versus evil?
The plot begins with the introduction of Harry Potter, the seemingly ordinary boy trapped in a miserable life and forced to obey his uncle and his aunt. Then, quickly we find out that he is a wizard who is famous by defeating the most villainous person of all wizardry history-Voldemort. And the rest of the novel describes Harry's entrance into the wizardry world beginning with his enrollment into Hogwarts, a school for wizards and witches. With the friendship of his two best friends, the three young Hogwart students set out to discover what's lurking in the school.
Overall, a must read book even if you are not a big fan of fictional/fantasy novels. Rowling incorporates a lot of universal themes (good versus evil and coming of age) that many people can relate to.
If you have only seen the movie, I think reading the book would only enhance your movie experience.
