Gyms, personal trainers, and the fitness industry suck! It's not empowering and read why.

For those that are reading this you probably aren't going to like what I say or maybe you will. What you're about to read is a challenge to the fitness industry and mainstream gyms that I believe have taken people's minds hostage.
I hate gyms and the fitness industry. I can't stand them. The fitness industry is set up so that you feel worse about yourself. How do I know that? Just take a look at all those stupid fitness and beauty magazines. Always showing some fake picture of some fake ass person showing off their body so you compare yourself to them. And since you never match "their" expectations you feel worse about yourself. It's all image based. I can't stand the fitness industry because I believe it limits peoples beliefs about their own potential and boxes them into a structure that isn't necessarily the most empowering.
Personally, I train for performance. Where I train at my gym (Body Temple Gym) it isn't about training my legs or shoulders or all that non-sense. When I train, it's about "How can I be a better person when I leave from here." I lift hard and heavy because it challenges my own beliefs about what I can do. When i set new records by lifting a weight once previously thought impossible I create new beliefs. What once was thought of as impossible all the sudden becomes possible.
Why don't more people train like this? Because it's hard. Because people think it's dangerous. Because they can't do it themselves. Because they have limited beliefs. I like the way it's set up because since most people won't do it, there's more room for me at the top and I like that. I have little to any competition.
I lift like this because I'm free from the burden of feeling that I have to train like the magazines tell me "I should" train. I have freedom and therefore I don't have to train like everyone else does. When I train, it's never a's an opportunity. Training never feels like work. If you're workouts feel like work or you don't like to do something but you do it anyway because you like the outcome, good luck on your chances of doing it long term. If you ever feel like you have a love/hate relationship with exercise, good luck doing that exercise long term. I love to lift heavy, powerfully, explosive and challenging. It's spiritual for me...not physical. And that's where everyone has it all wrong.
Here's a big F-U to the fitness industry and gyms. They're out to take your $$$ people and they'll steal your self worth comparing yourself to a false image of THEY think you should be. Free yourself and exercise on YOUR own terms, your rules, your personal power.

Agreed. I don't like gyms for tons of reasons including the fact that it's expensive and boring. I'm definitely an outdoors exercise person where you're challenging yourself, enjoying nature and, best of all, free!
