Just Baseball
A Place to Discuss Everything Baseball

A nostalgic look back to when the explanations of baseball were simpler

I first read this book shortly after it came out and rereading it was a nostalgic look back. Not only was it a look at the players I idolized when I was younger, it was also a time before the big salaries and even bigger performance enhancing drug scandals. While it takes a discerning ear, the veteran follower of baseball can detect the difference in the style of the authors writing about the players. All of the comments are favorable and the language is appropriate for a four-year-old.
The players featured in this collection of short player descriptions are:

*) Hank Aaron
*) Johnny Bench
*) Rico Carty
*) Roberto Clemente
*) Bob Gibson
*) Frank Howard
*) Alex Johnson
*) Harmon Killebrew
*) Willie Mays
*) Willie McCovey
*) Sam McDowell
*) Brooks Robinson
*) Frank Robinson
*) Pete Rose
*) Billy Williams
*) Carl Yastrzemski
