In my opinion, it is a healthy thing to modernize the classic baseball poem "Casey at the Bat." Written over a century ago, it is still an excellent description of a wonderful game. In this book, Neiman uses some superb sketches that depict the players of today. Names and numbers are on the backs of the uniforms, Casey wears a batting helmet, the fans are wearing modern clothing and Casey looks like a slugger. Depicted as a muscular behemoth, his arms look like he could crush the life out of a bear. Reading "Casey at the Bat" is a delight in any form and I highly recommend this one.
