I am a wife, married to my husband, Ken, since 1975, the mother of three adult children and a grandmother to two adorable grandsons. I was a "stay at home" mother who found ways to be self employed so that I could make my own schedule which involved being a volunteer in various children's activities including many times room mother, assistant cub scout leader, and for a number of years a coach to Odyssey of the Mind, and then Destination Imagination.
I like seeing family, reading, meeting new people, traveling, beautiful gardens, some gardening, walking, interacting with the world and some alone time.
I grew up near Albany, NY. I have lived in Massachusetts, in Boston and on Cape Cod; all across New York State; in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and in Durham, North Carolina. I attended Ithaca College and graduated from Russell Sage College with a degree in history and government. I have taken graduate courses in the areas of reading, writing, cognition, linguistics, counseling and human relations at SUNY Albany, Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Hamlin University and The University of Minnesota and teacher training in reading through The Upper Midwest Branch of th International Dyslexia Society. I have worked in sales ( Discovery Toys) and in teaching most recently as an Orton Gillingham Reading tutor. I am interested in reading, gardening, traveling and genealogy.
