A CIA camp in Kabul, Afghanistan is devastated when a man they thought was an Arab double agent, crosses them and explodes a suicide vest, killing many CIA officers.

We also see American soldiers dealing drugs with the Taliban and see that the Kabul station is in disarray.

John Wells has been a CIA troubleshooter and is asked to travel to Kabul to see what he can find.

He knows the language and the area from past assignments and poses as a Saudi so he can meet a Taliban commander in the area and see if he can discover if there is a CIA mole.

The suspense builds as we read the story, wondering if Wells will succeed and if there is a mile, will Wells be able to stop the person before they can succeed in any plot they're planning.

The author provides a realistic picture of what I would imagine Kabul would be like with the desert area surrounded by mountains and populated by various waring tribes. He also shows us that the Pashtun tribesmen have a hatred for Arabs and a dislike for Americans.

I enjoyed the suspense and recommend this novel.
