Cordel Logan had been a member of "Alpha" a military assassination team.
His superior was Arlo Echevarria. Logan's ex-wife left him for Echeverria and now she asks Logan's help because Echevarria has been murdered and police are having a hard time investigating because Echevarria's background is secret.
Logan is eventually persuaded to help and as he does he learns that Savannah's father hired Echevarria to go to Kazakhstan to check on an oil trader just prior to Echevarria's murder. That man, Pavel Tarasov is now in the midst of an oil deal with Savannah's father.
Logan calls in favors and weaves through the puzzle of the murder.
There were a number of stereotypical characters in the story and parts of the story were predictable. In addition, there was a great deal of information about flying, which wasn't of interest to me. Nevertheless, David Freed can write a story and I look forward to more of his work in the future.
