I am obsessed with this bowling alley. They hosted my 10 week bowling league this fall and have a totally hands-off approach. The lanes are very clean and well stocked with every size, weight and color of ball.
I have also bowled recreationally here and always found a great crowd and plenty of open lanes. Dede at the bar is a mysterious and lovely Frenchwoman who can accommodate all of your 21+ needs.
Bowling shoe rental is $4.50 and they sell socks in case you forget them (which I do, often) for $1. They also spray the shoes with disinfectant and deodorant inbetween each use. There is ample parking in the front (Ralph’s) and the back (did someone say Custom??).
For a great time head over to AMF bowling and tell Dede I sent you..

This is great. San Francisco USED to have good lane houses too. They're all shut down in favor of condos and development projects. All the big ones anyway. I miss Castle Lanes, Sports Center Bowl, Japantown Bowl, Downtown Bowl, Lincoln Bowl, Mission Bowl -- all shut down. I miss the 40 lane houses. We have dinky little Presidio Bowl where the Army used to send their boys, and very dinky Yerba Buena Bowl with maybe 10 lanes. The Peninsula and East Bay areas are the only places left that have decent bowling houses. Good review!
Oh how could I forget the Diner!!? They deliver the food to your lane from next door and the same meals we were choking down week one we were seriously fiending for by week 3. Speaking of unpretentious- you can bring in Taco Bell or whatever you please.. and Dede DID made me fall in the lanes on multiple occasions. It's true.. the more you drink the better you roll!
Whether your seeing blurry or crystal clear, these lanes are beautiful. Sure there is a tinge of scum about the place, complete with scum dinner in the front but as Erica points out — hassle free and affordable. So toss a ball and try to knock over some ish, while not falling over yourself by Dede's doing.
